ROSIE & THE DRAGON

Rosie met a fire-breather
who set her heart to burning,
He used her, then he left her,
But he left her with a yearning
For a fire-breathing lover.

"Come to me, fire-breather..
Come singe my soul.
Come in and warm my bed.
Breathe out of control,"

Rosie searched for years on end,
Rejecting many lovers.
They all lacked the dragon warmth
And one was like the others,
Much the same as ashes.

Came the day she met a man
With midnight in his eyes.
He lights his way with dragon breath
While Rosie slowly dies
The death of fiery love.

"Come to me fire-breather
Come singe my soul
Come in and warm my bed
Breathe out of control".

tara lilacs

are blooming and I think of you
And remember us
As we were.

It seems so long ago
We were poets
We were dreamers
Full of lust and longing.

But now we're just two tired
housewives
Full of longing for lust.
Dreaming of the way we were.

Seasons change and so do we.
Greening and growing
And dying again.

tara lilacs are blooming.

Cobwebs - for tara

The only poem I've considered writing
In the time that you've been gone
Concerns the spider slums in my windows.

And maybe only then because the reminded me of you
More sister than my sisters
And so very far away.

The cobwebs in my windows,
So intricately designed
Until you move the curtains.

Our lives.
