SEARCHING

Have you ever searched for something
That seemed to be lost forever
The more you search
The harder it is to find
You’d follow a path that looked to be right
Instead of getting closer
It would lead further away
To be lost even more
Have you ever felt the hurt
Of thinking you’d found it
Then realising you were wrong
The pain
Of believing you may never find it
The loss goes deeper still
The tears go on and on
Instead of just looking
It becomes searching
The searching turns to despair
Which clouds your mind
And overtakes your thoughts
You turn the wrong way
Take the wrong paths
And the pain inside becomes unbearable
So you have to stop
Before you break
And then you know it’s gone forever

But wait! there it is
And the reason is clear why you never found it before
You were looking too hard
Love, has to find you

JUST ANOTHER STRANGER (for all the street kids)

Girls standing on the corner
The lonely walk the streets
Looking for some lovin’
To cool their body heat
Baby’s assets are for sale
The price she pays is shame
City lights don’t seem so bright
From inside a cheap motel

Lying naked on a cold bed
Roaming hands make her body crawl
Giving pleasure to a hungry man
Is this what she’s looking for
Will she ever have real loving
That money just can’t buy
Will baby have her chance in life
Or is it all a dream

She needs Daddy’s arms around her
Just to be his little girl
But instead
She gives imitation love
To just another stranger

She wonders where her life has gone
The rainbows never came
Her world is slowly slipping away
Her innocence lost in pain
Baby had to grow up fast
Survival, she found wasn’t easy
But the thing she lost was her childhood
‘Cause Baby’s just fifteen

She cries out to her Mama
In her sleep
She dreams of home
She’s tired of giving pretending love
To just another stranger

I CAN’T FORGET

You said you had to leave, why when I still love you
You said you had to move on, please tell me what I can do
Give us one more chance, I begged for you to stay
Our love I thought would last…then I watched you walk away

So hard, when I can’t forget
These feelings, I try to accept
To cover, the way that I feel
My love, dreams that I steal
Sweet memories, are always there
The magic, still in the air
The longing, just for your touch
Remembering, time wasn’t enough
My heart, not quite the same
So hard, I just can’t forget your name

Our plans gone by the wind, never knowing what went wrong
Praying you’ll change your mind, I’m trying so hard to go on

MASQUERADE

Your perfect smile hides a broken heart
Life wasn’t good to you
Feigns happiness to hide loneliness
Make believe is what you choose

Masquerade….world of pretense, life of pain
Masquerade….stays behind the mask, not at risk again

You play the clown for all to see
The facade hides a sense of inferiority
Push away the years and hide the tears
To slip into a false security

Masquerade….nights of sorrow, days of shame
Masquerade….behind the doors, your love remains

Masquerade….no one can see, inside your cover
Masquerade….your curtains are drawn, courtesy of another

EVIL IN THE NIGHT (for my 25yr old son, who is a drug induced schizophrenic)

As night falls and darkness closes in
The shadows trace a path to pain aroused by discontent
An unseen force provokes unrest to take its hold on life
Beware, it’s all around you….the evil in the night

Drifting down the alley ways like an early morning mist
It takes control, invades your soul reigns master of your mind
Surrounds your whole existence turns your heaven into hell
You can’t escape ‘cause it’s too late, once caught your under its spell
There will no longer be reality, your sanity will start to change
Once innocent dreams of a future will now be nightmares of pain

As the dark turns into dawning
And the sun brings on a new day
It slowly retreats away from the streets but in your mind it is there to
stay
Beware it’s out to get you….the evil in the night

PEOPLE UNITE

Grant us the freedom deserved by all
Change the tears to cheers, tear down the wall
We have a world of hope, no man should be caged
By politics, colour or religion, in this enlightened age

People unite it’s time to move on
In this journey to peace we will walk as one
People unite, build from this day
Step by step we’ll clear the way

Vision and courage hold the key to life a new
Tear down the barriers and let peace shine through
The road has been paved, don’t sit back and wait
We can all help to change…war, prejudice and hate

People unite it’s never too late
Friends and foe let’s communicate
People unite cause a future generation
Are relying on us for a more harmonious situation

GYPSY LADY

Lady in black, wandering star
Generations of mystic emerge from afar
Caravans laden, life’s treasures abound
Mystery woman, will the secret be found

Gypsy lady weave your spell
So this illusion called love will ease my hell

Look into the future what fate to befall
Visions of daylight give promise to all
Gone in the night, like a ghost come morning
On trails of hope, promises calling

Gypsy lady use all your powers
So this delusion called love won’t take me down

Gypsy lady weave your spell
So this illusion called love will ease my hell

ALMOST PARADISE

I remember the time when I thought the world was ours
We went walking in the sand together hand in hand
Looked out over the horizon and in the future beyond
Making plans for our life…and dreamed on

But that was yesterday and now your love has changed
What I thought would last forever is turning into never
All the dreams are fading just like the daylight at dusk
We are now you and I …when we once were us

Memories of lazy days just you and I having fun
Holding each other kissing under the sun
Those days are gone now I’m only left with lonely nights
To remember when…it was almost paradise

At night in my sleep my imagination runs away
Dreaming you are here with me lying in my arms beside me
But suddenly I awake and I realise too soon
That your gone from my life…I’m alone in my room

Memories of crazy nights just you and I being as one
Making love to each other till the dawn would come
Those days are gone now I’m only left with lonely nights
To remember when…it was almost paradise

SILENT WORDS

Over the years
I thought of you many times
Wanting so much to tell you how I felt
But the words just stayed within
Silent words
Spoken only in my heart
Memories of you
Lingering into the night
Sleep
Just out of reach
Mornings
So far way
What would you say
What would you do
If you knew of my feelings
If you knew of my love
Would I lose you forever
Or keep you for eternity
You were my dream
And you never knew
For you my love was endless
With time it grew stronger
Suspended
Waiting for the moment
Longing for you to be mine
But then
Destiny played it’s hand
You came into my life
All those dreams
Are now the real thing
Your love is mine
To fill my empty heart

SOMEONE ELSE’S HEARTACHE (just for fun)

You fooled around and broke my heart
Your love wasn’t only for me
I should have known by the unanswered phone
But I was too blind to see

It seems your love was just a game
And my heart became the stakes
Now your out of luck cause I’ve woken up
Girl, that’s the risk you take

Now your
Someone else’s heartache
Someone else’s blues
Cause I’ve cut the chains from around my heart
Now girl, I’m over you

Now your
Someone else’s heartache
Someone else’s misery
Cause I’ve cut the chains that bound my heart
Now girl
At last I’m free

So the times are tough and your having it rough
And you want me to take you back
Girl, I wouldn’t even try once bitten twice shy
You gambled and I had the luck

Now your
Someone else’s heartache
Someone else’s blues
I’ve won the game
Don’t want to know your name
And girl, your the one to lose
