Tara Lynne Mason -- The name Tara was chosen for me because of its Irish roots. My father chose it out of a list of other Irish names because backwards it spells A Rat. (Good joke Dad). I have over time grown to love my name.
Taraleigh -- It's interesting to hear how everyone got their names. My own mother died before i knew to ask her what inspired it. I remember her telling me repeatedly to never let anyone shorten it so now even though i`m 26 i feel bound by duty to make sure nobody calls me Tara. I don't care how people pronounce the Tara as long as its not terry, and its followed by leigh. I like my name mostly because i know it was something just for me from my mother. There.s nothing else really i have of hers. (Note: and this is why I'm including her even though technically she's not a "Tara".)
Tara Ann B. -- My mother got my name from "Gone With The Wind". She had already chosen a name for me, but when she saw the movie, she fell in love with the name of Tara. When I was small, I hated the name, because I was the only one with it. I thought I was weird. I wanted to have a common name, but as I grew older I have come to love my name. It probably helps that GWTW is my favorite movie of all times. I actually have a original copy of the hardback book of GWTW signed by Margaret Mitchell herself. It is one of my most prized possessions. My children love my name. They think it is cool to have a mother with an unusual ,and famous name. I also spell my name with the lowercase t---. (I'm going to try to find out if this is the legal spelling or just something she does and why)
Tara Lee Coons -- My mom and dad love the name Tara. They saw the movie Gone With The Wind, and immediately fell in love. I pronouce my name like SARA. I really like my name. I am 20 years old now, and when I was little I was usually the only one with the name Tara, now that I am out there, I find more and more Tara's out there.
Tara Jasmine -- My beautiful tara was born Oct 29 2001. I was blessed with this child after my parents passing. I knew right away she would be Tara Jasmine. I love the name - my baby lights up the world with a one year olds smile and charm. She is truly a angel who came when all my family's hearts were broken and she blessed us with love. My husband and I both agreed that she would be Tara in a matter of a minute.
Tara -- I was particularly interested in the "Taras Online" page since my name is Tara as well. I am a Singapore-born Indian girl. I would like to point out that besides being a celtic-gaelic name Tara (pronounced TAR-uh or Taah-Raah instead of Terra) is an Indian name as well. Tara in Hindu mythology is a astral goddess and also means "star"in Sanskrit the ancient indian language. Its also a important deity for the Buddhists.
Tara Marie D'Antona - - (Note: This Tara is 2 years old and the form was filled in by her mother). I named my daughter Tara because of the beauty of the name itself. I liked it more becuse of it's links to Ireland; we're not Irish but some friends of mine are which is how I first heard the name. It is a beautiful name that is not over used like Jennifer or Amy. Like Sara.
Tara Lea Ann Hanna - - Like many Taras, my mom heard the name on "All My Children." I love my name, but I thought it was a lot more unique until I visited this page! My name's pronounced TARE-UH. I am amazed that my name means so many different things around the world--land, rocky pinnacle or mountaintop, home of the ancient Irish kings, and it's a Buddhist goddess. Wow. My doctor, originally from India, also told me that Tara means "bright and shining star." To the other Tara born on April 22nd, SO AM I! I can't believe there's another Tara with her birthday on Earth Day!!
Tara Theresa - - Gone With The Wind I do now, not as a child. I say tear uh , but I answer to all the variables.
Tahra Germaine Fils-Aime - - My mom always liked it and she spelled it with an "h" in the middle to be different. Yeah, but a lot of people mispronounce it. Tah-ra (the tah is like tadpole and then ra. If you spell your name like i do, can you please e-mail me and let me know??? i never met anyone that spells it the way i do...thanks
Tara Lynn Clark - - My parents were in a wierd cult named Tara, i'm not sure what the cult was. They would never tell me. Yes ( I like it).
Tara Elizabeth Kaufman - - My father chose the name Tara. He got it from the soundtrack to the 1965 movie "Doctor Zhivago". The funny thing is, the name of the song is "Lara's Theme". The character i was named after isn't even named Tara! I'm glad my Dad was confused and did not name me Lara. I love me name. I did try to change it when i was 2 years old...fourtunately i came to my senses quickly. I did not meet anyone who pronounced her name the way i do until college. It is fun to have a unique name--when someone yells Tara, i know they are talking to me. I pronounce my name Tar-ah. My brother was fond of calling me A-tari (like the old vidoe games),when we were kids. I hated that! I was happy to see other Tara Elizabeth's out there!
Tarra Nicole Brown - - They thought it was a pretty name. Yes (I like it). Tar-ra. My interests are cheerleading,Movies,Dogsledding, talking, and Playing on the computer. My future goal is to go every where in the world and to be proud of everything I have done in life.I also want to be a Nurse or a Scientist.I love animals too
Tara Renee Hodges - - I was named afer my Aunt Tanya who wanted me to have the same initials as her. Her full name is Tanya Renee Hodges. I love my name very much. I think that it represents who i am. I pronounce it like Sara. Although i hate it when people call me Tarrah.
Tara E. Ticomb - - I was named for a character, Tara King, on the Avengers TV show. I don't know much about the character except that she was suppose to be beautiful and possess "killer" talents. Yes, there is alot of history in the name through out a variety of cultures. I pronounce it like Sara with a T. This is a really good idea. It is really interesting to see why so many people, who share the same name, share that name.
Tara Marie Skripkunis (age 20 months) - - My older sister suggested it and Mommy and Daddy instantly fell in love with the name! I seem to!=) I say, "Ra-ra" when anyone says it to me! Like Sara. When mommy and daddy found out I was coming, they started looking at names. They found a boy's name that they liked, but were really stuck on what they were going to name a girl. So, one day, they asked my older sister what she thought would be a good name if she had a baby sister. She thought maybe two seconds before saying, "Tara." Mommy and Daddy instantly fell in love with the name!=) A month later, Mommy had an ultrasound that proved I was a Tara and Sharon was absolutely thrilled!! The day I was born, I immediately began charming everyone who came in contact with me. I was Daddy's first child and he was completely and totally enraptured from the moment he saw me. I am now 19 months old and continue to charm and captivate everyone. Mommy and Daddy can't take me anywhere without people coming up and telling them how beautiful I am. And of course they are quick to agree!=)
Tara Dawn Clevinger - - My mother and father couldn't agree on a name and when my mother went into labor with me started reading Gone with the Wind. Hence she fell in love with the name Tara. Even my Dad loved it! Yes... It isn't something you hear everywhere... It's slightly unique. (Pronounced) tera.
Tara Shea - - I LOVE MY NAME. (Age 9).
Tara Fishwick - - My parents found the name in a book and found the meaning to be 'princess' and i was therefore their little princess! Yes i do! I like to be a little different and i love the way people are so interested in my name. Tar-a, like you would pronounce Sara. As a child i used to think i was special because when i was on hoilday in spain all the lorrys say 'Tara' on the side - now i'm odler i've learned that tara in spainishe means weight and it was simply informing the weight of the lorry!
Tara Kimberly Gant Roque -- - Before my parents were married, when they were in highschool, they went to go see the movie Gone With the Wind. It was there that they heard the name Tara and fell in love with it. They said that if they ever got married and had a daughter they would name her Tara. Thus, here I am!! I love my name!!! There aren't too many people with the name Tara. I say Tah-ruh.
Tara Lynn P. - - My mother first heard the name on "All My Children," then she saw GWTW and that cinched it. Her grandparents were Irish and she was only second generation American, so most of my family members have Irish names. It wasn't until I did a year abroad for college in Galway, Ireland, that I realized that Tara isn't a common name for Irish women! There were many places and things named Tara, but not people! I love my name! Everyone mispronounces my name. They said it right in Ireland - Tara to rhyme with Sarah, with a light A sound. People in the east coast have a tendancy to say "TAR-uh" (tar as in the black stuff) and people on the West Coast make it sound like "Tear-uh" (like ripping a piece of paper) but neither is correct. It's Tara. Light A, light R. :-)
Tara Kyndall Powell - - My dad picked my name.He really thought it was a very pretty and simple name.he wanted a simple one cuz of the unusaual way my middle name is spelled.Kyndall instead of how some people do it like Kendal. Yes,sort of,it is kinda boring.I prefer my middle name. Sara with a T.
Tara Lea - - I named my daughter Tara after watching an Australian drama series call 'Return to Eden' There was a character in it called Tara Wells. Tar-Ra. I think my daughter likes her name.

Tara Kristen O'Neil - - My aunt was due around the same time as my mom with my cousin , shaun. My aunt had decided on the name Tara but had a boy instead. Once my cousin was born, i was due 2 months later my mom and dad could not decide on a name. My farther heard the name my aunt had pick and the rest, is history! Tara Nadine Shea - - Yes (I like it). Ta..ra.
Tara Anne Packer - - Yes (I like it). tyra aka... tara. I am getting the tattoo of the Tara brooch (tyra). It means land of Irish kings.
Tara O'Connor - - My mother named me after Tara King from 'The Avengers.' I always liked my name despite the fact that I spent the greater part of my life correcting people in the pronunciation of it. Interestingly and subsequently my name lead me to this website because I had a dream last night and upon interpretation of it a close friend remarked that it sounded like an ancient story about the Buddhist Godess of compassion named Quan Yin and when I looked it up, Quan Yin was closely associated to Green Tara the Tibetan deity of compassion. This site happened to be linked. Coincidence? Perhaps. Yes (I like it). Tar-ah.
Tara Michele F. - - I believe that I picked my name, just like everyone else picks their name before they are born. I think that the mother picks up on the name her child wants to be called. If she does not than that's why people do not like their name and go by another or actually change it. I'm sure I wanted the name Tara. I love my name Tara, I think it has beauty, wisdom and strength. I love my name Tara, I think it has beauty, wisdom and strength.
Tara Lynn King - -I'm not sure, my father named me and he passed away when i was real young. Yes. I love my name. tahra
Tara Janese Ballew - - : My parents decided upon this name because they had first heard it on Gone With the Wind and liked it so much they named me after the plantation. But I don't really like the idea of being named after a plantation so I just tell anyone who asks that I was named after "Tara, The Hill Of Kings" in Ireland. Sounds much better and much more interesting than a plantation. And being partly Irish myself, I became fascinated with the history of Ireland and decided I like my name even more. I love my name because it is still so unique and is very beautiful. I pronounce my name like Sara
Tara Dorothy Allyson E. - - Because my mom liked the name from the movie "Gone with the Wind". It's okay. Taa-ra
Tara Leigh Mason - - I've asked both my parents that question numerous times. My dad says they heard it from 'Gone With the Wind' and they had me soon after. Mom says that she heard it a long time before me. I think it might be a little of both. It doesn't matter. I love it. I used to hate it, it was so different from every body else. During elemetary I was know as Tarzana Queen of Apes because the kids couldn't think of anything more creative. Mom did tell me I was either to be Tara Leigh or Erin Paige so I'd say that the Irish took it's stand in that perspective. I'm 17 now and I see how a unique name can add to a personality. Oh yes I love it. I wouldn't change it for the world. I pronounce it like Sara but with a T. This is a very special webpage. My eyes got so tired reading all the other Tara's comments. The way you spell Tara, tara is very unique and just adds to your personality.
Tara Elisabeth D. - - Dad is Irish and I was named after the castle in Ireland. Yes, very much. Tara like sara.
