It's not really possible to mention all the things I believe in, for their are many. From the pages here at the FairyWeb you have already learned a great deal about my beliefs. You'll find links to and comments about some varied organizations and causes here. I provide these links because I feel strongly about the message they send. Please take a few minutes to explore these - perhaps you are a believer as well.
RESOURCES FOR SEXUAL, MENTAL, PHYSICAL, and VERBAL ABUSE
The EnviroLink Network is a non-profit organization which has been providing access to thousands of online environmental resources since 1991. You are sure to find a way to help Mother Earth here - a way that will fit with what you believe.
I believe in freedom of speech. That's an important statement. But child pornography goes beyond any belief covered here. Like animals, children need protection. Like the song says..."for in this world they have no voice, they have no choice..". The individuals who cater to this are sick and in need of help. More and more I've come to believe that help isn't something they want or will seek, and so it is up to the rest of us to protect what these evil people would destroy - the innocence of a child. The damage they inflict upon children can't be measured...it's far too great. Pedophilia is NOT a sexual preference....It is a sexual perversion and should not be tolerated. Make your voice heard.
This organization does a great deal of work to protect all species, but their special interest is in the reintroduction and survival of the wolf. When I hear people talk about hunting as a means of thinning deer population, I always wonder if the wolf isn't a more natural answer. "Of all the wildlife groups, Defenders of Wildlife has stayed closest to its original purpose to protect species and habitat. It remains lean and focused." -Outside Magazine.
Greenpeace is an independent, campaigning organization which uses non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and to force the solutions which are essential to a green and peaceful future..
I worked for Planned Parenthood Association of the Southern Mountains for a couple of years. It was without a doubt one of the most dedicated groups of people I have ever worked with. Traveling to 7 of the poorest counties in East Tennessee, we were often the only source of medical care these women received. And contrary to the belief of some misguided souls, abortion wasn't the big topic. We sought only to help women have children when they chose to do so, and could love and cherish them. We helped teenage girls struggle with unwanted pregnancies, not by pushing them toward abortions, but by providing them with unbiased information and referrals to various agencies.
You won't need your organs after you die, but a lot of other people will. Why not give the gift of yourself to someone who needs you? This is a precious gift, and one that you can give easily. At least read about it, and think about it.
This is not a plague on the sinful. It is a dreadful disease that strikes those of all ages, gender, race, and/or sexual preference. Far too many lives have ended already. It's time for a cure.
I realize that many people consider PETA to be a radical organization. I have always found them to be.....semi radical...*grin*. They do a great deal of good in raising public awareness to issues like animal testing, the cruelty of fur, and vegetarianism.
The Animal Concerns Community is a project of the EnviroLink Network, a non-profit organization which has been providing access to thousands of online environmental and animal rights/welfare resources since 1991. This community serves as a clearinghouse for information on the Internet related to animal rights and welfare. If you know of resources that should be listed here, please suggest a new resource and help the community grow!
